Elegant pair of wall sconces designed by Poliarte in the 1970s, featuring metal panels with brushed steel inserts. The shades are crafted from Murano glass with a rare rhomboidal section, arranged in a staggered pattern that creates a dynamic geometric composition and enhances the light effect on the wall and throughout the room.

The glass elements subtly shift color depending on the light source, transitioning from soft blue to amethyst purple, producing a striking iridescent effect. These sconces are true luminous sculptures, perfect for refined interiors and collectors of 20th-century Italian design.

Fully restored and rewired, the electrical system has been upgraded to be compatible with LED bulbs.

Poliarte: Italian Design Between Art and Glass

Founded in Verona in the early 1960s, Poliarte quickly gained recognition for its experimental approach to lighting and materials, becoming a key player in the world of cutting-edge Italian design. The company uniquely blended modern aesthetics with the ancient art of glassmaking, thanks to important collaborations with local master glassmakers and visionary designers.

During the 1960s and 1970s, Poliarte worked closely with some of the most intriguing figures in Italian design. Among them, Albano Poli stands out a designer and artist who created many of the company’s most iconic pieces by playing with coloured glass, tactile textures, and sculptural forms. His creations, often handmade in limited editions, are now sought after by collectors and design lovers for their timeless appeal.

Poliarte’s production from this era is characterised by a bold use of light as both an architectural and expressive element, with lighting pieces that often take on the presence of true art installations. Each piece is the result of a close dialogue between design and craftsmanship, between vision and manual skill.

To own a Poliarte piece is to bring home not just a lighting object, but an authentic fragment of Italian design history.
