Tecno & Eugenio Gerli: A Timeless Dialogue Between Innovation and Design
Founded in Milan in 1953 by Osvaldo and Fulgenzio Borsani, Tecno quickly distinguished itself as one of Italy’s most forward-thinking design companies. With a focus on innovation, functionality, and architectural clarity, Tecno became a reference point for modern furniture especially in the world of office and contract desig without ever sacrificing aesthetics.
One of the most significant and lasting creative partnerships in Tecno's history was with Eugenio Gerli, an architect and industrial designer known for his versatile approach and elegant sensibility. Their collaboration began in the late 1950s and continued for decades, producing a series of pieces that are now considered landmarks of Italian mid-century design.
Gerli’s work with Tecno includes iconic creations such as the Graphis modular office system (developed with the Borsani brothers), the T92 modular table, and a wide range of seating solutions like the PS142 armchair, all designed with a sharp eye for proportion, ergonomics, and timeless appeal.
What made the Tecno–Gerli partnership unique was their shared vision: a balance between engineering precision and human-centered design. Their furniture wasn’t just beautifu it was built to respond to the real needs of modern life and workspaces, often with technical innovations hidden beneath minimalist forms.
Even today, Tecno remains a benchmark in international design, and the pieces born from this collaboration continue to be sought after by collectors and design lovers around the world.
