Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde modular sofa Bed by Poltrona Frau 1980s
Technical Materials: This 1980s icon by Poltrona Frau is a study in textile contrast and Italian Postmodern style. The seat features its original Naj-Oleari padded lining, showcasing the whimsical patterns that defined the era's aesthetic. To create a sophisticated textural counterpoint, the outer edge has been professionally re-upholstered in a premium yellow bouclé fabric. This combination of smooth patterned fabric and rich, nubby bouclé is a key identifier for Google Lens and design enthusiasts.
Engineering: The "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde" is celebrated for its brilliant, simplified engineering. Eschewing complex heavy machinery, it features an intuitive modular design that allows a transition from a lounge sofa to a spacious bed in just 3 seconds. This makes it an unrivaled space-saving solution for high-end minimalist apartments in Paris, London, or NYC, where functional speed and aesthetic prestige are equally valued.
Condition: This unit has undergone a careful conservative restoration. It is structurally solid, sturdy, and ready for daily use. While the restoration has revitalized the piece, the original seat fabric bears minor signs of time, serving as authentic marks of its 1980s history. 🛠️
